Molly Post #2 - Updated with Pictures

Yesterday we made our way out of wet Columbia, MO and were quickly greeted by our first rays of sunshine so far.  True to form we got a late start and didn't make it to Kansas City until well into the afternoon.  We made our way to the National WWI Museum and Memorial....fascinating stuff!  It's the only museum in the country dedicated to WWI and it was well worth our time.  Paul and I both agreed that the museum staff were some of the most friendly and gracious we've ever encountered.  True historians in their own right.

So I have to be honest, our real reason to stop in KC was to have a meal at Blue Koi on restaurant row. We saw an episode of 3 D's with Guy what's his face. It was a total fluke that we happened upon Pappy's Smoke House in St.Louis.  We had no idea that Adam, the food networks man vs food guy, had eaten there. However, Blue Koi was added to our itinerary months ago.  We walked in and Ty quickly informed the wait staff that he was a Chinese lover so we knew we were off to a great start.  It didn't  matter how many times we tried to explain to him that we were at a Taiwanese restaurant.  Later in the meal when she asked us how we liked our food, his response was, "Coming from a Chinese lover, this is GOOD"!  And it was!!!!  We left KC with full bellies and made it to Topeka for the night.
Guy and The Rubenstein's ate here!

Today has been a long one.....because Kansas is a long state.  We left our site in decent time but we were slowed up at a Walmart in Saline, KS.  Having waited since Paul was discharged last Friday for the results of his lung biopsy, we had to wait for 2 hours for his prednisone scrip to be filled.  He's been anxious to get started with it before we hit the higher elevations.  However, the doc failed to put the date or instructions on the scrip. The poor pharmacist almost cried at the Walmart in Topeka last night because she wasn't able to fill it.  All is well that ends well, and Paul has started his prednisone and we've made it to one of favorite states.....Colorado!!!  We've just pulled it to a teeny little town called Seibert, CO for the night.  The streets are paved, but just barely. There is only one stop sign....honestly.  We miss you all so very much, but are truly having an awesome time and look forward to what each day brings!!  Paul just told me that 180(!!!!) people live in this town....WOW.  To all of our friends and family in Lisbon, OH...we are SO grateful that you are well and were unharmed by yesterdays tornado's.  One more thing....my brother Jake is home and out of the hospital.  Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes!

Notice Dad was too out of breath to be a Ninja Warrior ....
Ty caught a tumble weed!  He said since there were tumble weeds it must be a Ghost Town.  180 people does not make a Ghost Town ...close, but not quite.

  1. Good Morning Rubenstein Family. I hope your first night in Colorado was a good one! It's just about 5am here in the wonderful scenic Ambridge, PA. The birds sure are loud. Almost as loud as Josea "quietly" getting ready to leave :/ So, I have to get going. Jo has to be at Northern Lights at 5:30. Have a wonderful day! Love to you all, Lisa. Hey Paul, how are you?

  9. Better late than never with my comments, right?

I thought you were exaggerating when you said tiny town...nope. Now THAT is a tiny town - and I'm loving the tumbleweed! I'm siding with Ty on that one. That's definitely a ghost town to me!
